Project Updates- 2017

The summer season zoomed by!  If you follow our stories on Facebook or Instagram you have watched Townhomes on Goose Way, in Hood River, start to be finished.  There is one townhouse still available.  Several family homes were also finished this summer, and it is the best day to watch a family move-in to their new home.  A custom home in Snowden with beautiful barnwood features, vistas that make you literally say, “wow” and a kitchen that most chefs would envy.   Building family homes in Oregon and Washington is what our team loves to do.   We appreciate that a new home is made of a lot of decisions, a lot of visualizing and a lot of new experiences in some cases.  Cameron and crew are glad to get to help people build homes in the Columbia Gorge and Central Oregon.

Curtis Homes is grateful for team and have grown our team in the last several months.  We welcomed a new craftsman to the team Jeff, as well as an office financial controller  Anders Sorstad. We also celebrate the great work that Jeremy Fields, project manager in Bend,  and Thad Iremonger, project manager in Hood River.  Many of course know our office bookkeeper Danielle Iman-Lankford and Julie Johnston.  Okay- Fall time we’re ready for you!

Hood River Home Finished!

This modern-prairie style home was  a fun project for us (Emily and Cameron), because we chose the finishes for the large three-story home.  The vision for the house was to create a sleek, modern space and to highlight the beautiful symmetry in the home!  The 2,500+ sq ft house has four bedrooms, three and half baths and open main-level living.  The home is warm, thank you warm-toned wood floors, and the full of natural light, thank you Ply Gem upper windows.

It’s all Good in the Hood!

Our photographer Jen Gulizia, owner of Gorge-us Photography, captured a completed Curtis Homes’ neighborhood.  Often, Curtis Homes shares photos of recently finished house, but one of the most satisfying parts of the job is seeing a home a year later being loved and lived in.  It is rewarding to see yards with grass, kids playing in the driveways, families having dinner in the dinning room or cooking together in their kitchen.

Relocating to Hood River, Oregon

The Columbia River Gorge is a beautiful place, and many people want to move to the area to be a part of the local communities.  The larger towns within the Scenic Gorge area are Hood River, White Salmon, and The Dalles; smaller communities such as Cascade Locks and Mosier also add to the flavor of the Gorge.  Many consider Troutdale the entrance to the Gorge.   Here are resources from a “old” local gal for anyone planning on moving to the Gorge or interested in a second home in the area.

Where is Hood River?

The City of Hood River parallels the Columbia River, and is nestled in the scenic Gorge region of Oregon.  Across the Hood River Bridge are the small towns of Bingen and White Salmon, Washington.  Hood River is located an hour east of Portland and the Portland Int’l Airport.  (View of Hood River)

Hood River is home to a diverse group of local industries ranging from technology software companies to fruit packing houses.  Tourism, healthcare, timber industry and government positions are some of the larger employers in the area.  Recreational sports draw thousands of people every year to the Columbia River Gorge, creating lots of tourism opportunities.  There are many entrepreneurs that call the Gorge home, and as a by-product there are a lot of small business owners thriving in the Gorge.

What is Popular in Town?

There is never a dull moment in “the Hood’ with many activities to try!  Many locals and tourists enjoy a number of water sports (Windsurfing, Kiteboarding, SUP Boarding, Kayaking).  After a day on the river, try one of the many local breweries and/or wineries.  The town is full of fantastic restaurants such as 3 Rivers, 6th Street Bistro, Solstice and Celilo.  Hood River has many wonderful seasonal festivals too! (Click on the festival for details) Harvest Fest, Blossom Fest, Pear & Wine Fest, Hops Fest, Hood River Holidays
